La technique de renforcement par inclusions rigides constitue une réponse pertinente aux problèmes de sols compressibles. Elle consiste à transférer les charges de l'ouvrage renforcé vers une couche de sol résistante et peu compressible. Le transfert des charges se fait par la combinaison d'inclusions rigides traversant le sol compressible et d'un matelas intercalé entre le réseau d'inclusions rigides et l'ouvrage. La technique de renforcement par inclusions rig ides est adaptée pour des ouvrages de types remblais, dallages, zones industrielles, stations d'épuration. Ce travail de thèse vise à améliorer la compréhension des phénomènes des transferts de charge dans les massifs renforcés par inclusions rigides. Le comportement mécanique des sols pulvérulents et cohérents qui constituent le matelas de répartition a été caractérisé à l'aide d'essais en laboratoire. Des essais en centrifugeuse ont ensuite été réalisés afin de comprendre l'influence des caractéristiques mécaniques du matelas et la configuration géométrique d'un réseau d'inclusions rigides sur les mécanismes de transfert. Des approches numériques s'appuyant sur des calculs par éléments finis et par différences finies sont présentées. La modélisation numérique des essais en centrifugeuse fournit des informations sur le fonctionnement des inclusions rigides dans le cas du remblai et du dallage et permet de comprendre les mécanismes de transfert des charges avec des matelas de répartition constitués de matériaux pulvérulents et cohérents. Les paramètres géométriques des inclusions rigides ainsi que les caractéristiques mécaniques du matelas de répartition sont étudiés. Le comportement dynamique des inclusions rigides est étudié. L'impédance verticale et horizontale d'un réseau d'inclusion rigide est analysée avec une étude paramétrique. Une analyse dynamique d'un réseau d'inclusions est présentée afin d'étudier l'influence des conditions d'ancrage en pied et liaison en tête sur le comportement dynamique.

Intended as a first introduction to the micromechanics of porous media, this book entitled “Microporomechanics” deals with the mechanics and physics of multiphase porous materials at nano and micro scales.
